Prof. Kubilay Varlı, M.D.
Prof. Dr. Varlı served ad the General Director of Hacettepe University Hospitals between 1995-96.
Having graduated from Faculty of Medicine, Hacettepe University in 1977, he completed his specialty in Department of Neurology at the same faculty in 1982. Upon completion of his military duty in Erzincan and obligatory service in Adapazarı, he freelanced for 1 year in Ankara.
He returned to Department of Neurology, Faculty of Medicine at Hacettepe University as an assistant professor. Receiving the titles of Associate Professor in 1989 and Professor in 1996, Dr. Varlı studied in Clinical Neurophysiology with Dr. Trojaborg at RigsHospital in Denmark in 1988 and with Dr. Sedwick at Southampton University, U.K. He pioneered in the practice and widespread use of methods such as “Single-Fiber Electromyography (SF-EMG)”, “Transcortical Magnetic Stimulation” and “Use of Botilinum in Neurological Diseases”. He has carried out studies in Intraoperative Neuromonitoring in the recent years.
Having served as Deputy Physician-in-Chief of Hacettepe University Hospitals and Physician-in-Chief of Adult Hospital between 1989-1995, and General Director of Hospitals between 1995-1996 as well as Dean of Kastamonu Faculty of Medicine at Hacettepe University in 2011, Prof. Varlı still continues to work as a member of Academic Staff in the Department of Neurology, Faculty of Medicine at Hacettepe University.
Prof. Varlı, the founder of Turkish Neurological Society, has also presided to Turkish Clinical Neurophysiology EEG-EMG Association, Hacettepe University Alumni Association, Hacettepe University Academic Members Association.
Prof. Varlı is also member to AAEM (American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine), IFCN (International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology) and EFNS (European Federation of Neurological Societies).
